Chocolate Green Breakfast Smoothie

What can be more delicious than having a chocolate green smoothie for breakfast! I have some version of this almost every morning for breakfast. If you’re not a chocolate person, leave out the cacao powder and it’s just as fabulous.

Here a recipe that makes a 12-16oz smoothie for two people.

Chocolate Green Breakfast Smoothie
Serves 2:

2 ripe frozen bananas
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
2 cups soy/almond milk (unsweetened)
2 handfuls collard greens, spinach, or kale
1/2 oz walnuts (raw & unsalted)
1/2 oz cashews (raw & unsalted)
2 heaping teaspoons raw cacao powder or cocoa powder
optional: small handful of fresh mint leaves OR sprinkle of cinnamon powder

Tip #1: If it is not sweet enough, add some dates or honey
Tip #2: Buy a bunch of bananas, let them ripen on the counter, peel them, put them in a zip lock bag and then freeze them. Frozen bananas create a wonderful consistency to smoothies.

The key to making a great smoothie is getting the right proportions of the ingredients. So just experiment until you get it just right for you.

I made this smoothie this morning and it is delicious! I used kale and some left over beet green and replaced the date with some fresh pineapple. So good! Thanks for the tiny steps.
